We as people share individual characteristics and traits so working in groups or teams provides both benefits and challenges simultaneously. Performing a team related task can prove difficult if team members don’t work well together, or worse still, conflict. Teams that work well together can greatly increase workplace productivity and winning company culture. Here are some tips that will help your teams work cohesively.
Team Contract. As corney as it may sound, a simple one-pager that everyone signs up to provides a felling of ownership and responsibility for all team members. It can simply define what a project objective is, its timeline and define the role that each team member plays in achieving that goal. It clarifies up front any misconceptions and allows the ‘difficult’ team players to opt for participation or not.
Ease of Communication. This is essential to strong team performance. Keeping clear, open, honest and respectful communication will allow team members to express their feelings in a way that prevents a build-up of hidden anger or distrust. Encourage team members to ask questions and listen to one another. This helps to build better team dynamics and stronger relationships.
